The cymbidium orchid, a popular choice among brides for wedding orchids, is stunning with its large flower and abundance of color choices, making coordinating them with bridesmaid’s dresses a cinch. The orchid is also wilt-resistant, making it especially perfect for a mid-summer wedding. While this beautiful flower was once only available to the wealthy and prominent folks in our society, it is now obtainable by those of all statuses.
These striking flowers can be used in many different styles at a wedding, including but not limited to the bride’s bouquet. If it is used in the bride’s bouquet, though, it should either be of a fragrance that is pleasing to the bride or fragrance free. She is after all going to be the one carrying it close to her on her special day.
If these flowers are going to be used throughout the rest of the wedding, the guests should also be considered when deciding on a fragrance. You do not want guests complaining of headaches from the smell halfway through the reception. When thinking about decorating the event with orchids, there are things other than fragrance to consider, as well.
Their heads can be cut and placed directly on the tables to liven it up a bit and add a bit of color. You can also choose to place an ornate bowl of water on the tables and float the orchid heads in those. If you are using a more traditional vase, long-stem orchids are perfect. We have already mentioned the strength of the orchid that makes it wilt-resistant, but there are other aspects of the cymbidium orchid that make it ideal for a day-long celebration like a wedding. Orchids are rugged and extremely resistant to moisture loss.
While they are sensitive to cold, they can still survive most shipping conditions if necessary. The different varieties of orchids make them available year round and are available for bulk purchase making them ideal for decorating your entire wedding event area. If you are looking to cut costs, sometimes it can save you money to skip the middle man and buy your wedding orchids directly from the grower.
There are many other flowers to choose from when planning a wedding, many of which have symbolic meanings one might want to consider. Roses symbolize love, while lilacs and daisies represent innocence and purity. Blue hydrangeas usually embody loyalty and friendship, and the orchids discussed here are a sign of beauty. There is no reason to limit the wedding flowers to any one of these, but whatever your choice be sure to include the beautiful orchid.
It is easy to see why a bride might choose any of these flowers for her day, especially the orchid. As she walks down the aisle emanating beauty, what could be more perfect than to carry a flower that emanates the same thing? Her guests will be thinking about how beautiful she looks, but also how the union they are there to celebrate and the lives that will follow are beautiful, too.
